Jailbait

Chapter 6

Simon stalked out of the apartment building and flopped down in his car, angrily glaring at his upholstery. Red was unpleasant. He knew the boy had been through a lot but that was no reason to be rude.

He brooded until Shane’s tiny car roared into the parking lot and pulled in next to him. Aden was out almost before the car stopped. Simon stepped out just as quickly.

“What happened?” Aden demanded. “You were distinctly vague on the phone.”

Simon sighed and rubbed his forehead. “I found Red last night.” He gave a quick overview of what had happened and what had been said this morning. Aden looked horrified and even Shane looked sick.

“We have to go to the police.”

Simon hesitated. “I’m not so sure,” he said as he led the way up to Red’s apartment. “He may have a point…” He trailed off as pounding music became more and more obvious. He frowned. It was coming from Red’s apartment.

He sighed and waved to it, understanding the loud music even if he didn’t like it much anymore. When he was a teenager loud angry music always made him feel better too.

Aden pounded on the door. “Blake!”

There was no response, so he sighed and tried the knob. It was unlocked and he quickly opened it and stepped through. He froze. So did Shane behind him. Simon sighed and tried to peek over their heads. “What? Is he- Shit!”

Shane recovered first. He shoved Aden out of the way and tackled Bob who was rearing over Red. Simon quickly went to Red and turned him over. Green eyes flew open and for a moment, all Simon could do was stare at him as someone turned off the music, probably Aden. Then, he flushed and  realized Red was mostly naked. He quickly turned to pulling Red’s pants up.
